XRP Just Got Two Signals at Once and Most People Missed the Real Story

 


XRP's daily SuperTrend indicator flipped from bearish to bullish on April 18, the first such signal since January 17. That alone had traders paying attention. But the more interesting part of the story happened on Solana.

Vibhu Norby, a senior executive at the Solana Foundation, used Solana's DeFi infrastructure to buy $10,000 worth of XRP the same day. Not a centralized exchange. Solana's own rails. He swapped USDT for 6,561 wXRP, a wrapped version of XRP that launched on Solana via Hex Trust and LayerZero, with access through Phantom, Jupiter, Meteora, and Titan Exchange.

That matters for two reasons. First, it shows that wXRP infrastructure is functional and trusted enough that a Solana executive is personally routing money through it. Second, the timing ahead of an XRP-focused conference signals the move was deliberate.

The technical picture adds weight to the setup. Crypto analyst alicharts, writing on X, pointed to $1.55 as the resistance level XRP must close above to trigger a relief rally. The SuperTrend indicator now provides trailing support beneath the price. The next price target, if $1.55 breaks cleanly, sits at $1.90.

XRP climbed more than 3% on April 18, trading near $1.48. The token gained roughly 8% over the past week, outpacing Bitcoin and Ether. It still trades below the 200-day EMA near $1.80, so the broader trend remains under pressure.

wXRP launched with over $100 million in total value locked. XRP holders can now lend assets for yield, join liquidity pools, and access Solana's DeFi product suite without selling their XRP positions. With Phantom's approximately 20 million active wallets providing distribution, the reach of this integration is not small.

  On April 18, 2026, a single forged message on a cross-chain bridge became 2026's largest DeFi exploit. Someone called the lzReceive function on LayerZero's EndpointV2 contract, tricked KelpDAO's bridge into accepting it as a legitimate transfer, and walked away with 116,500 rsETH worth $292 million. That was 18% of rsETH's entire circulating supply, minted on Ethereum mainnet with nothing backing it. The attacker did not stop at the theft. The stolen rsETH went straight into Aave V3 as collateral, and against it, the attacker borrowed approximately $236 million in wrapped ETH. Real funds, borrowed against tokens that had just been fraudulently minted.
